Ray LaMontagne

Discovered this guy through a connection on MySpace (yes, the devil site). But then recommended him to another friend, and in turn have his album "Till The Sun Turns Black" now.

Track 4 - Three More Days - is probably my favorite right now, but you know me - the lyrics person... Track 5 - Can I Stay, just sings to me. Beautiful I think.

To those of you that are Ryan Adams fans I think this would be up your alley. And even if you are not - check him out! -- Ray LaMontagne

Lyrics
Can I Stay

Can I stay, here with you, till the morning?
I am so far from home and I feel a little stoned
Can I stay here with you till the morning?
There's nothing I want more than to wake up on your floor
Lay with me in your thinnest dress
Fill my heart with each caress
Between your blissful kisses, whisper
Darling, is this love?

Can I stay, here with you, till the day breaks?
There's something you should know
I ain't got no place to go
Can I stay here with you, till the day breaks?
How happy it would make me to see your face when I wake
Lay with me in your thinnest dress
Fill my heart with each caress
Between your blissful kisses, whisper
Darling, is this love?

Can I stay, here with you, through the nighttime?
I've fallen sad inside and I need a place to hide
Can I stay, here with you, through the nighttime?
I'm all alone and blue, won't you take me to your room?
Lay with me in your thinnest dress
Fill my heart with each caress
Between your blissful kisses, whisper
Darling, is this love?

Whisper to me, is this love?

My Motto?

I fear that there may be parts of the lyrics in this song that will forever tell the story of my life. It would be nice if I could start listening to the music in songs as opposed to the lyrics. I used to do that. Just sort of make up words to fit in between the ones that were clear. Now I seem to scrutinize the songs that I listen to.

But, I feel confident that anyone going though anything could find a Dashboard Confessional that spoke to what they were going through or feeling.

So, that this for what its worth.

Lyrics:

So Beautiful

I heard that you were home again, but you don't look like your back to me
With your focuses changing your gaze is transfixed on a point that I can't often see
You've got your new ties, I've got my old knots, you've got your inside lines
But your never happy with what you've got

Careful now,
You're so beautiful
When you've convinced yourself
That no one else is quite as beautiful

I heard that you were living well, but you don't look like your living to me
Though the sparkle is gone, the smile is in place so that everyone watching can see
You've got them all convinced, but I know it so well
That you could list your friends, but you can't count on them

Hold it now
You've got everyone convinced that your alright
When no one else is quite as vulnerable

As soon as you got it you want something else
It's not the sale that you love, its the sell
It's not the price that's going to cost you
It's just the weight that's going to bring you
Down, down, down, down

It's going to bring you down, down, down, down, down

Hold it now
You've got everyone convinced that your alright
When no one else is quite as vulnerable

Careful now
Your so beautiful, when you've convinced yourself
When no one else is quite as beautiful

As soon as you got it you want something else
It's not the sale that you love, its the sell
It's not the price that's going to cost you
It's just the weight that's going to bring you
Down, down, down, down

It's going to bring you down, down, down, down, down

As soon as you got it you want something else
It's not the sale that you love, its the sell

It's not the price that's going to cost you
It's just the weight that's going to bring you
Down

Refound Cowboy Mouth - Are You With Me?

As I have been going through stuff in the house I have come across CDs that had been long forgotten. Cowboy Mouth's "Are You With Me?" was one of them. So, I popped it in CD slot 6 before heading to Florence this evening.

Track 2 on that disk was one of my favorites back in High School. I remember really getting into the CD because of that track. It was very appropriate because I had just dumped some guy. I think it is interesting how this track has refound me, or I refound it. Especially at this point in my life.

Lyrics:

How Do You Tell Someone?

Tina says don't talk to me like I am deaf and dumb
We've been broken down and broken up so much that I am numb
Talk about don't shout about the people we've become
There's a little girl that's crying over here.

Marcus says don't shout at me like I was born a fool
You speak of love and scream of love how dare they treat me cruel
Nothings fair in love and war, so please lets make some rules,
There's a little boy who's crying over here

(Chorus)
Did you ever know me, I swear that I have tried
did you ever need me, I feel like I just died
Did you ever want me, I swear that I have tried
How do you tell someone you don't love them
How do you tell someone you don't care anymore
How do you tell someone you don't love them anymore

Tina says the pictures that we took are put away,
inside a box of memories for cold and rainy days,
Words and pencils rhyming with the things you never say,
There's a little girl that's crying over here

(Markus all threw )? all his pictures in a wooden box
His wooden heart is tough as nails and solid as a rock
keeps himself protected with a combination lock
there's a little boy that's crying over here

(Chorus)
Fightin makes me tired
(in my ?)
lying makes me tired
(there's a smile?)
hurting makes me tired
(hold me tight)
lying makes me tired

TIna says I wish that I have never seen you smile
your name is written on my soul in alphabetic file
all I've got's my dignity, so I won't even style
there's a million of us crying over here

did you ever know me I swear that I have tried
did you ever need me I feel like I have died
Did you ever want me I swear I swear

how do you tell someone you don't love them
how do you tell someone you don't care anymore
how do you tell someone you don't love them anymore
how do you tell someone you don't love them
how do you tell someone you don't care anymore
how do you tell someone you don't love them anymore
anymore
anymore
everytime I talk to you there's no one listening
everytime I reach for you there's no one there
everywhere I look for you there's no one to be found

Jet - Shine On

The band Jet will forever be for me "The Killing Bunnies Band." Why? Because of the video for their song, "Look What You've Done." (Watch Jet videos at VH1.com) It has cartoon bunnies in it and at points the video gets a little creepy/violent. But, I heard the title track from their new album the other day on Sirius, and thought it was pretty good. So, I grabbed it.

Lyrics:
Shine On

Please don't cry
You know I'm leaving here tonight
Before I go I want you to know that there will always be a light

And if the moon had to runaway
And all the stars didn't wanna play
Don't waste the sun on a rainy day
The wind will soon blow it all away

So many times I'd planned
To be much more than who I am
And if I let you down I will follow you 'round until you understand

That if the moon had to runaway
And all the stars didn't wanna play
Don't waste the sun on a rainy day
The wind will soon blow it all away

When the days all feel the same
Don't feel the cold or wind or rain
Everything will be OK
We will meet again one day
I will shine on, for everyone

So please don't cry
Although I leave you here this night
Where I go how far I don't know
But I will always be your light

That if the moon had to runaway
And all the stars didn't wanna play
Don't waste the sun on a rainy day
The wind will soon blow it all away

Yeah, oh yeah

When the days all seem the same
Don't feel the cold or wind or rain
Everything will be OK
We will meet again one day
I will shine on, for everyone
Shine on, for everyone

When the days all seem the same
Don't feel the cold or wind or rain
Everything will be OK
We will meet again one day
I will shine on, for everyone

Damien Rice

When in Virginia last weekend I heard a new song by Damien Rice, "The Blower's Daughter." I don't think it is actually a new song, but it at least is new to me. I really like it.

Lyrics:
the blower's daughter

and so it is
just like you said it would be
life goes easy on me
most of the time
and so it is
the shorter story
no love no glory
no hero in her skies
i can't take my eyes off of you
and so it is
just like you said it should be
we'll both forget the breeze
most of the time
and so it is
the colder water
the blower's daughter
the pupil in denial
i can't take my eyes off of you
did i say that i loathe you?
did i say that i want to
leave it all behind?
i can't take my mind off of you
my mind
'til i find somebody new
