Long Day

Had a breakfast meeting with Tara this morning. It went well. Then I had a long meeting, a fire drill (walking down from the 11th floor was a pain), a span of what felt like unproductive work, another meeting, and then some frantic work.

This evening Justin and I met with Chad (our $$ man). It went well. He is working the numbers backwards, but if I stay with the job I have now I might could retire as early as 52. That would be awesome. I told him to tell me what it would take to make that # 45. :-) Would that not be sweet?

Then we went to Kristina's place to have dinner with her and Todd. It was good. She made lasagna. Muchos Gracias to her. The made-from-scratch choc. chip cookies were good as well.

Justin is watching Southpark and it is about over so I am going to wrap this up and head on to bed. Just a few more quick notes...

The other week on the way to dinner at Jamie's place I saw this cake. (we were at Food Lion getting some dessert.)

Tomorrow should be a pretty good one. Getting nails done after work, having dinner with SJ at S&S cafeteria, then band. When I get home I have to make a cranberry jello salad for the Thanksgiving luncheon at work on Friday. I hear that the spread is always ridicuously amazing. So, looking forward to that.

The "Monthly Motivational Meeting" last night was nice as well. Got to chat informally with a few people from work that I had not really talked to yet. Justin went too. So he got to meet people. They all seemed to like each other just fine. So that was good.

Going to floss and brush teeth so I can get to bed.

Farewell.

Eyes

Last night I was brushing my teeth, looking in the mirror and my eyes caught my attention. Not sure why - maybe they were telling me something. But, they appearred extraordinarily green for some reason. While I wore green eyeshadow yesterday it is doubtful that is what brought out the color because I have had something stuck in my right eye for 2 days and keep rubbing my eyes as a result. Maybe it was the maroon sweater I was wearning. I was most likely some combination of the light, green wall paint, green mirror frame, and some other things. Either way they looked really green, and seemed to be telling me somthing - which leads me to...

Eyes tell a story. And I wonder what story it is that mine tell. I am sure it is a different story to different people. I often wonder how poker players are able to bluff. Even in their eyes. I guess many cant and that is why they wear glasses.

Musical Craps?
Next time you are in the bathroom and constipated. Be sure you have this fancy product that I saw in some catalog Justin got in the mail. The AFT iCarta iPod Bathoom Dock should be a welcome Christmas/Birthday/Anniversary gift to any music lover, or fan of eating too much cheese at once. The slick design is perfect for any bathroom's decor. :-)

They have a point.
Whoever commented and said, "And what exactly does the birth of Jesus have to do with Santa Claus?" has a good point. The answer is nothing, but everyone knows that Christmas goes hand in hand with both concepts. I reckon I took some liberties in relating them like I did in that post. It would be nice if we thought more "Jesus" at Christmas and less "Santa," and to do that we need less Santa. So - bringing him out this early is working against where I think we should go. Besides - the turkey should be celebrated right now for goodness sake!

Guitar Hero II
I played last night at Hoke's house. Why it was a shock to me that "Carry on Wayward Son" as made famous by Kansas was on there - I don't know. But heck yes! I love that song, and it was might fun to play. I also took a stab at "Woman" by Wolfmother - which was also enjoyable. Can't wait to get the game. Just gotta get everything done here at the house first.

Kiwi!
Justin shared Kiwi! with me tonight. It is an animation for some doodz Master's degree program thing. The first time I watched it didn't occur to me exactly what the splat was at the end. But once Justin clued me in I nearly cried. Enjoy.

Carolinian - the magazine for alumni and friends of the university of south carolina - Winter 2007
The issue is out. It is the one that features Justin and I.

Fax Spam
I got spam to my work fax number today. Fun!

I guess that is about it for today though. Feel like I am getting a sore throat :-( That is sad. Did I just do too much talking today? I think I may have been flirting with some sort of illness for a week or so now though, so maybe it is finally just catching up with me. Can't afford to get sick though. I need to save my PTO at work for one - and two - Death Cab is Friday. :-)

I will roll for now though. Lata Homiez!

What is Today?

Again - I ask you - what is today? I will tell you. Today is Monday - November 13th. It is over a week until Thanksgiving still, and what did I see in the mall this evening? A freaking Santa station. IT IS NOT CHRISTMAS TIME YET!! Argh. So ridiculous. We do not celebrate the birth of Jesus in November. Sheesh.

On a happier note though, I bought a new pair of jeans and they were a size smaller than normal. ;-) So Ha!

I was also thoroughly shocked at the re-design Victoria's Secret got. Much racier and in-your-face than before. They did not have the bra I wanted, but such as life. I will hit another one in the next day or so to pick it up.

Listening to "The Moon is Down" album by Further Seems Forever. It is a good one. Get it if you don't have it.

Got to get a spreadhseet done for work though.

Byee for now.

Some things.

OK - I have been doing good lately about dropping lbs. In fact - dropped about 15 over the past 3 weeks. Today I had my first real "MC Hammer pants" experience though. So, as a result I am going to grab a pair of new pants this evening. I also now only have 1 pair of jeans because the 2 pairs that I wore over the summer are worn slap out.

I am also tired of wearing the same black shoes every day. I wear too much black. That is part of the reason I have to get some pants. Need something in the brown family.

I also had the underwire bust on my fav every-day bra. So taking care of that is a must. Can't emphasize that enough.

But - I just needed to kill a few minutes at work. Didnt really take a lunch today, so I figured blogging for a few would be OK.

Today feels like a good day. Things are even on track to make is a good week.

So long.

Argh - What A Few Days

Goodness. Things have been crazy. There is no way I could blog about it because to tell the entire story would result in a post longer than 'Gone With The Wind.' There is a plan for settling down, so all should be good.

Work is going well though, and I am enjoying the people at the office. I've actually taken lead on a project - which scares me a bit because it is a kind of big one. We shall see how that goes.

Justin is well. I know people are probably relying on me to update about him some since he has removed the blog from his site. He actually just about had a heart attack a few minutes ago. He was in the restroom and had not seen where Vegeta sometimes likes to hide on the shelf where the towels are. He saw something move out of the corner of his eye and shrieked like a little girl. Kind of cute, but I know how it feels. I did the same thing the first time I saw here there.

Keith Urban's new CD came out this past week, and I saw it on sale Friday at Wal-Mart for $9.72. I couldnt pass it up. "Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing" is the album's title. I really think it puts it well. I cranked it this morning while cleaning up the house before Mom & Dad arrived. So far the songs seem pretty good. At first listen I like it much more than I did his previous release, "Be Here."

Speaking of music, I cleared the iGob today and re-made my library. Kind of kicking myself for opting for the iPod Nano. I really could fill up and use a full size model. Such as life though.

The mini vacation to ATL is coming up in a few days. The Death Cab for Cutie concert should be pretty good. Justin was telling me he feels jipped though because OK! Go is opening for the next leg of the concert series. I would have liked to see them too.

We got a lot done around the house this weekend. There is finally art & photos up on the walls. It really does make a big difference.

Goodness - it is nearly 11 already. I must be getting to bed.

So long for now.

Guitar Hero

In honor of Guitar Hero II coming out today I have decided to compile some great air guitar pics...

No, Justin and I do not have it yet. Kind of low on the $$ so it will probably wait and be a Christmas present. Hint Hint if anyone wants to get it for us!! ;-)

She Has a Good Point

Mom sent me an e-mail this morning...

So...

And so what are you selling? And, what's the big idea of telling about an email that blindsided you and then not tell what it was? That's like saying "I've got a secret but I'm not telling!!!" Have a good day. Lucky me does not have to go to school today but I have lots of work I need to get done that I have been putting off!!!
Have a good one,
Love you,
Mom

I don't know what all we are selling. Clothes for sure. I can't believe we have as much as we do. Probably purge some kitchen stuff too.

As for the e-mail - it is sort of a complicated story. I just had to get out the fact that I was shocked. I guess it is sort of me saying I have a secret. Almost like with the dogs though, one of those things I just rather not talk about. The therapy for me was simply mentioning it.

We voted this morning. I was pleased to see that the Gadsden Elementary precinct was hopping this morning. We actually had to wait for a few minutes. And someone let me know how I missed this one - same sex marriage was on the ballot. I had no clue we were voting on that one. Duh Leslie.

So, I am wearing my sticker proudly.

Today is an important day though - I will blog about why later. But get ready - it is going to be a good post.

Flea Market

That was the big decision for today. We are going to the flea market on Saturday to get rid of at least some of the stuff we cannot fit in this house.

Tomorrow having dinner with Jamie & Matt. Chimichangas as I understand. It should be tasty. Voting in the early AM before heading to work.

Today at work was good. I went on a walk after getting home. Up and down the driveway. It was not too exciting.

Was blindsided this evening by an e-mail from a friend. Sometimes people do things you don't expect. Sometimes you do things yourself that you never thought you would do.

I am really tired though. So I will go to bed.

Nice Weekend

Saturday morning Justin and I took all back roads to Carthage, NC where Hoke's parents live. The drive was beautiful. We were on US 1 most of the way. As I understand, that runs all the way from Maine to the Keys. Would be a nice drive one day.

The Currie's house is gorgeous. A very nice piece of land. We even got to ride over and see the baby goats at the farm. That was really fun. I have some pics and will post them sometime soon. (Got to get them off the Treo. It takes much better pictures than the phone.) Chance and Krystal were up at the BBQ so we had some people our age to visit with. Hoke's family is very nice - good people from what I can tell.

We left there around 6:00ish to head to Asheboro. It did not take too long to get there so we hit the mall in search of gloves/hats/scarves. I won out on that excursion though cause I ended up with all three, but poor Justin was a bust. Finding that stuff for guys is often hard. I intended to get a matching set - red - but ended up with an eclectic mix of items. Red golves, a red/pink/tan/other color hat, and a multi-color scarf. I may look like a bag lady when wearing it all - especially with my favorite green coat, but who cares.

We ended up at the Comfort Inn right by the mall. Not too bad of a rate - and we got a King size bed. So it was nice. The continental breakfast even had waffles. So Justin was happy. I did good and only had a tiny bowl of Frosted Flakes.

The zoo (NC Zoo) was great. Very different from Riverbanks, so it is tough to compare. Riverbanks just has exhibit after exhibit while NC Zoo is spread out and integrated into the rolling hills of the area. The best part is that the leaves were gorgeous. The weather was not too cold either, so the day could not have been much better. Well, the otters could have been out. I swear they are elusive little buggers. Justin and I never seem to get to see otters when we visit places. The sea lions were my favorite. It helped that the exhibit was done well, and the viewing areas were good. I think I sat on the bench by the underwater viewing spot for nearly 10 minutes just watching them. So graceful.

Because of the zoo's layout we did a lot of walking today. I am a bit sore, but it is in my shoulders, so that may just have been from sleeping funny in the car. Who knows.

It is getting a bit late though - so I ought to get to bed. I need to take advantage of this next week and weekend because come weekend after that the series of travelling kicks off.

17th - 18th : ATL for Death Cab
22nd - 25th : NO for Thanksgiving
1st - 3rd : Virgina with Jamie
7th - 11th : SF for football & fun

So, off I go. At least for now.

Week 2 - Check

Yeah, week 2 is done. It was a good one too. I did stuff, and got fancy office supplies and met more people. In general it was lovely.

Justin got me 2 cool gifts too... as well as an indirect one.

1 - new Rainbows! I love those flip-flops.

2 - A sweet Japanese chef's knife. He gave it to me on Wednesday. Made me sit Indian-Style on the ottoman and wear a bandana like a sweat band on my head. Then he played the recorder in a very Kill Bill sort of way (I had my eyes closed the whole time) and when I opened he was holding the knife. It is cool (will put up pics of it). Perfectly balanced and everything. Super sharp blade. Cant wait to really use it.

I made a batch of jerkey over night. It is quite tasty. I love the dehydrator.

Tomorrow we go up to Ashboro & Carthage. The latter for a BBQ at Hoke's parents house and the former to stay the night and visit the zoo on Sunday. It will be nice to see the fall colors during the drive.

So, the indirect gift - the Say Anything album ...Is A Real Boy. It is fantastic! Very VERY V E R Y good. :)

I also grabbed Tinsel & Tapshoes, a live Edwin DVD from House of Blues. Didnt realize it was a DVD though - but its cool. Will watch it sometime.

Guess I will go though.

Farewell.
