(10:10:00 AM) Leslie Shearer: I dont know
(10:10:09 AM) Leslie Shearer: he was not even looking at the house - he is a driveway guy
(10:10:27 AM) Scott Kaplan: i know...that makes the question ever so more valid

(10:15:45 AM) Reena: I'm so sorry
(10:16:19 AM) Leslie Shearer: I am sure we will have plenty of pics

(10:05:14 AM) Katie (Work): oh no.....oh no........
(10:05:37 AM) Leslie Shearer: really
(10:06:12 AM) Katie (Work): i'm not far away if you want me to run out there and asses some damage
(10:06:43 AM) Leslie Shearer: Justin is on his way out there now
(10:06:49 AM) Leslie Shearer: do you think he could resist?
(10:06:56 AM) Katie (Work): oh yeah, i'm sure
(10:07:30 AM) Leslie Shearer: I would be going to but I have a massage at 11

(10:08:19 AM) Leslie Shearer: yeah
(10:08:27 AM) Leslie Shearer: I only hope I get a damage report before I go
(10:08:38 AM) Leslie Shearer: I dont want to stress about the level of damage while laying there
(10:09:04 AM) Katie (Work): hopefully it's not too bad
(10:09:53 AM) Leslie Shearer: I hope it is not bad either
(10:11:00 AM) Katie (Work): at least ya'll are all about taking pictures, so you can show the insurance agent how far along and such that you were....
(10:11:17 AM) Leslie Shearer: yeah
(10:11:26 AM) Leslie Shearer: I just hope it was not a wall where logs were stacked
(10:11:52 AM) Katie (Work): how many layers had you gotten?
(10:12:10 AM) Katie (Work): anymore since the weekend?
(10:12:15 AM) Leslie Shearer: no more since then
(10:12:20 AM) Leslie Shearer: Justin is still exhausted
(10:14:13 AM) Katie (Work): i can imagine.....and with the weather it hadn't been so inviting, you'll have to keep me posted, brandon wanted to know if you were having a driveway poured since the contractor was out there
(10:14:59 AM) Leslie Shearer: no he was there to give us an estimate on doing it
(10:15:27 AM) Katie (Work): and he took a big truck out to do an estimate or was it just a pick up that he obviously can't drive?
(10:15:52 AM) Leslie Shearer: dont know
(10:16:05 AM) Leslie Shearer: after he told me I was just like - what's your number?? I need to call you back.

Well...Shit
That is all I know to say. More of an update later.

News Re-Cap

Wednesday June 14
This morning (in the rain) Justin and I went out to put some dirt around for Dad to disperse as he was waiting on the inspector today. While there Justin got the tractor stuck in the mud. It was nasty. Dad got there and they worked and worked to get it out, but no luck. We ended up heading into work.

The insepctor came out and approved the plumbing rough-in. We did find out that we have to have another inspection before the slab gets poured on Friday though, which was unexpected. Fortunately the guy understands that the concrete is scheduled to arrive at 10am, so he will come first thing in the morning.

Dad stuck around until we got off work to help Justin with the tractor. That was nice. I had to take Gohan to the vet and by the time I got out there they had just finished un-sticking the tractor.

We have had a ton of rain the past few days and I am skeptical about being able to get the concrete trucks back there. We will see how things look tomorrow.

Thursday June 15
The concrete guy came out today and surprisingly said we would be a go for tomorrow. I was floored. Still not thinking it is a good idea though, but ultimately it is his call.

Called to request a dispersement today on the construction loan and found out that the loan is still not funded. So, I called the attorney and Homeowners to find out the deal. Apparently Homeowner's Mortgage had UPSd me and Justin a document we needed to sign. Problem is that they sent it to Creekway and DUH - we are not living there anymore. Why they did not call to let us know this I am not sure. So, we went by to sign the form today and they should be faxing a copy and UPSing it to M&T so everything can get finalized.

Friday June 16
The concrete was suppose to arrive at 10:00am. About 9:30 the concrete finishers arrive. The ground was still really wet. 11:00 - no concrete. 11:15 - no concrete. 11:30 - concrete - we saw it coming through the woods. Then it stopped. STUCK! We all knew it would happen.

I was kind of looking at the situation like I do a hurricane. The storms are terrible and you never want to be effected by one, but there is always adreneline and excitement associated with the storm coming so part of you wants it to strike. --- As much as I did not want to deal with the headache of having the trucks stuck part of me wanted to be like - told ya we should have waited. Ha ha!

So, they called the wrecker. Before it arrived the second concrete truck came up - not having any idea what was going on - it got stuck too! Lovely. The wrecker arrived, and it was one of the GIANT ones that pulls 18-wheelers. It got the secondtruck free and began working on the first one. Mom & I started jumping for joy when the second concrete truck cam around the side access road and headed across the field. Not 50 yards from the house - stuck.

After talking to the guy Justin came and meandered over to us - we found out the wrecker was not stuck too. Weak! All 3 stuck. They worked and worked to get everyone out, but no luck - a second wrecker was called. It was 2:30 by now and the concrete in the trucks was getting hard. The likelyhood of us pouring concrete was slim to none so Justin and I headed to work.

We were not there 45 minutes before Dad called and frantically said - they are free, about to pour concrete. So, we wrapped stuff up at the office and bolted out there. It was nearly 8:30 before everything got wrapped up. What a day!

Saturday June 17
Justin departed around 10am for his excursion to Atlanta. With Ben's wedding approaching this was the Bachelor party. They got Ben a great outfit to wear when going out. Justin should be posting the pics soon - TOO FUNNY! Karl, Jeremy, Ben, & Chris were the participants. Seems like they had a pretty good time.

I spent the morning helping Jen move. Then relaxed most of the afternoon. it was nice to just chill.

Sunday June 18
Happy Fathers Day! I beat Mom & Dad out to the land Sunday morning. Upon arrival I realized they had been there on Saturday and started laying blocks. How kind! WE finished with the blocks around 6:00 that evening. The entire 1 & 2nd courses are done and the corners are set for the 3rd course. Should start on logs this weekend!

Monday June 19
Justin rolled in about 4am. Needless to say when it was time to go to work he was not getting out of the bed. So he got to GraySail about 11. The day was pretty productive. I also finally got some progress made on our loan with M&T I think. We should be able to start requesting drafts tomorrow.

Tuesday June 20
Today has been good. M&T has not called so I am frustrated about that. Gotta go out to the land today and assess the situation with the driveway situation after all the stuckage on Friday. Gotta count some blocks to make sure we have enough to finish the 3rd course. I also ned to go get my nails done they look horrible. Having dinner tonight witha big crowd - Jeremy, Ben, Todd, Katie, Brandon, & Karl - going to Ds Wings for all you can eat crab legs. YUM!

The toilet flange seems to be out of place and the plumbers are coming out to fix it tomorrow. The inspection will hopefully be Wednesday and we have a concrete crew scheduled for Friday so we can pour the slab. The power seems to be run and should be fully hooked up today I expect. The mauled a lot of trees in the process. Thats about it really.

Thats all for now.

Well Rested

Justin and I have been working really hard the past few months, the past few weeks espcially. Him more than me, but still I have been working hard. Not only at work proper, but at our other full time job - the land.

Yesterday we bailed on movign dirt and just chilled at the house. I took a nap and watched TV. He played guitar and went with Chance to go by a rifle. Yes, we now have a gun. Whooopee! I went to bed around 11 and when getting in Justin suggested we work from 9 - 5 today instead of 7 - 3. Since we are going out with Katie & Brandon tonight for dinner and to see Cars we knew going to the land to work was not an option.

Wow - sleeping until 7:30 REALLY made a difference. I have not felt this rested in quite awhile. Its lovely.

Well - I better get to work. Much to do at GraySail today!

Byee!

Making Me Smile

Justin ordered flowers for me for my birthday. A beautiful vase of red, pink, & white roses with little mini daiseys. Very lovely.

He was smart and had them delivered on Monday because it would allow me to enjoy them longer. Friday would have had them here during the weekend while I was away, and taking them home is not an option as vegeta likes to eat anything that is green.

So, my office area smells fresh and sweet and everytime I look at the flowers I smile.

They have been exceptionally helpful today. Sunday my ankle was a little swollen. We kind of figured that I twisted it or inadvertently did something funny to it while working on the land. It did not hurt too much, but was kind of aggravating.

Yesterday it was still pretty swollen and about lunch time my knee was swollen too. All made since because I figured I was compensating for the ankle and tweaking my knee.

As the day progressed the swelling was getting worse - my calf felt puffy and tight and the swelling moved across the top of my foot down to my big toe. A cyst or bump or something was also on the back of my ankle too.

After conferring with a few people it was decided that I should probably go see a professional about this and the ER was really the only choice. We were in and out in just over 2 hours - quite impressive I thought. Concensus was that it was most likely some sort of bite/sting that got me infected. Put me on a high-dose antibiotic and a vicodin/ibuprophen combo for pain/swelling.

Got in the bed last night and was miserable. My knee seriously hurt from swelling. I had not felt it like that since my surgery many years ago now. Took forever to get to get comfortable and once I did this firey itching nastiness exploded in my foot. As a result I could not sleep and kept fidgeting. Thankfully Mom & Dad had gotten some itch, bite, sting ease stuff for us so I lathered that on. Seemed to help some or either I was so tired I finally fell asleep.

Felt much better this morning, but had a follow-up at the hospital at 9am to have a scan of my leg done to rule out a clot. Scan was negative, which is good. So - with the pain and aggravation of my leg the flowers have been nice. Thanks again Justin!

Twenty-Four

Yeah. I am 24 today. At least I will work off some lbs as a present to myself while I do slave labor on the new house.

Early Present
Just after Justin got back to the office yesterday afternoon I got a call from the Animal Mission (pound). Gohan was there. Aparently he had escaped from Jeremy's house and a cop picked him up in Earlwood Park.

Justin brought up the idea of us getting a ticket for it. I thought there was no way.

We walked in the facility and immediately knew Gohan was there. I know that obnozious cry anywhere. So, we sign-in, identify it is him and then they give us the low-down.

1 - Because he was 'lost' we have to have him microchipped. Great, there blows the month's buget. Only $10. OK.

2 - Since he was brought in, a citation is issued for 'Dog At Large - Nuisance - 1st Offence' - Great. IT COST FREAKING $153!!!! one-hundred and fifty-three dollars I get to go to court on June 12 and because it is the 1st offense the judge will probably reduce the charge.

3 - And there is an 'impound fee' - $30. Just to get him out.

So, if this all goes down my early present from Gohan is $193 bill. :-) I am already worried about him because he is not really eating very well. I don't think he likes his food. But, more on that later.

Time to go work...

Brilliant

(Think of the voice those Sam Adams characters use.)

History
On Justin's birthday we went to Bonefish Grill it was fab. I had a pistacio & parm encrusted rainbow trout entreee that was VERY good. So, the other day we went to Jillian's for lunch (me, Justin, Hoke & Chance) and I was raving about the trout. Hoke said - "If I had a restaurant I would never use the word 'encrusted' to describe a dish." He thinks it is over used. He also metnioned that he would not have wasabi anything on the menu, as it is just a big trend now and is also overused.

Today
I walked to Publix with Chance to grab some lunch (craving hummus and we were out of bread at the house). Jen asked that we pick her up some sushi. After getting back and eating I asked her how it was. "Great!" she exclaimed and proceeded to describe the firey-wonderfulness that her mouth was experiencing due to the wasabi with her sushi. I then told her of Hoke's comments yesterday and we joked around. I proceeded to the restroom...

The Idea
I had an e-pee-iny.... There are sugar-rimmed drinks, right? Specifically martini's I mean. So, what if you made a soy-vodka martini garnished with sashimi-grade ahi tuna, and served in a wasabi rimmed glass... Yeah. Brilliant. (Not that I would ever drink it.)

HOUSE STUFF
Construction has officially started. We have a building permit, insurance, have a completely dug foundation, it has been set with re-bar, been inspected, and we have poured concrete. As I speak they are finishing the well and come tomorrow we will have water. We will lay blocks tomorrow to prepare for the slab, and the plumber is coming for a rough-in on Tuesday. The barrier right now is power - they have not come yet to hook it up... kind ticked about that one.

WORK
I have been pretty productive at work this week. We sent out a mailer to Communications Directors at colleges & universities and we got our first good hit this wee - St. Andrews College in Laurinberg. Hoke is actually an alum of theirs. "How fortuitus" the man said. (I know, I can't spell).

LIFE
Been stressed lately. I am sure it has something to do with feeling like I have 2 full-time jobs. (The house is just that way - really - it is.) Justin got me a fantastic robe for my b-day and I took a long bath the other night and then snuggled in the robe for a few hours watching TV. It was a VERY needed rest. Just might do that again tonight.

Got an e-mail from an old high school buddy today. Kelly Walters. It was nice to hear from her. She and her husband Scott have a beautiful baby. Hopefully next time I am down that way I will get a chance to go by and visit.

Well - I am going to go for now. Have a most excellent one - tomorrow's my birthday!!

Mom's Trick

Last year mom was convinced by birthday was on June 1 - somehow she got confused. Well I just got an e-mail from her....

Happy day before birthday to you,
Happy day before birthday to you,
Happy day before birthday dear Leslie,
Happy day before birthday to yooooouuuuuuuu!

Love you,
MOm

Of course my brain left out the the word "before" so I IM her -

(9:40:35 AM) Leslie Shearer: What is today?
(9:40:57 AM) RdngJuju: the day BEFORE your birthday
(9:41:00 AM) Leslie Shearer: ok
(9:41:08 AM) Leslie Shearer: i was scared again
(9:41:12 AM) RdngJuju: did you see email?
(9:41:14 AM) Leslie Shearer: ahh
(9:41:17 AM) Leslie Shearer: i see
(9:41:22 AM) Leslie Shearer: i missed "before"
(9:41:27 AM) Leslie Shearer: lol
(9:41:29 AM) RdngJuju: tricked you, huh?
(9:41:32 AM) Leslie Shearer: yeah
(9:41:34 AM) Leslie Shearer: very much so
(9:41:43 AM) RdngJuju: exactly what I was going for!

She got me!

More of an update later!
