Rain, Rain, go away

A few weeks ago I thought it was never going to stop raining, then the other day I was begging for it to rain cause the grass was drying up, and now it is raining and I want it to stop. I've been really good about keeping Gohan in when it is suppose to rain, and you know - it never rains when i do that. Then, last night - I leave him out, and it rains and is raining this morning, and it rained all day. Poor boy is soaked to the bone. I reckon it is better to leave him out in rain as opposed to the heat we have been having though. I still feel bad - he looks so pitful. Took a note from Noah's book and scratched a hole in the screen too. (Noah = Jeremy (brother)'s black lab puppy).

All in all things are going really well. A little sad that Justin will be leaving for his trip next week, but on the other hand I am getting super excited about the trip to LA at the end of July - it will be here before I know it. We are getting all out final details set this week (at least the majority). Everything really seems to be coming together. I am heading to Rock Hill tomorrow to do OpenCms training for CERRA - their new site is going to be really sharp.... draft new site --- current site. We are getting the new GraySail site started too - REALLY excited about that one. It is what I plan to work on in the morning when I get in.

Let's see - Scott (GraySail) had a new baby yesterday - Jessica - just over 5lbs. Saw a picture today, quite cute. He even came to work today, I couldn't believe it - but we did have a new guy starting (Ed - he is actually from Florence (commutes)) and he is here to work with Scott, so that is probably why. Got a nice GraySail holiday Monday - go Independence Day. The plan is that we are going to go to Florence over the weekend and have the traditional cookout on Sunday, although I am not sure who all is going to come. Seems like a good potion of the family has moved away... Lori & Jeremy, if you read this - PLEASE COME - WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU!!! :) Likewise, if any of you friendly people want to join in for a good cookout, let me know and I will get you directions. Monday (if it is not raining) Justin and I plan to gather some people and head to Lake Wateree for some afternoon fun and then evening fireworks. They say you can see them from pretty much anywhere on the lake - we'll see about that.

Hmm -- about 10:00, and Justin is in the shower, he made me swear I would have him out in time for Reno 911 (hate it but cant help but laugh) - so I better go round him up.

Lata!

Enjoyment

I have been enjoying things recently...

- The past few For Better or For Worse comic strips because they have revolved around Elizabeth's cat, getting it into the carrier, and introducing it to her mom's dogs.... <click here to view the strip>

- Our netflix account because we have watched some cool stuff. I put up some new reviews, and think I am going to use the image below for my rating scale. <click here for reviews>

- The Harry Potter series. I am gearing up for the release of the new book next month, and the movie for Year 4 in the fall. <click here for book info>

- My new computer.

- The weather. Although it is suppose to be warner today, the weather has been quite pleasant the past week. A little rain would be nice. Grass is looking a bit weak.

But, reckon I will go for now...

Feel Better Babe

Yeah - he is sick. "food poisoning" and "tight hamstring"

Food Poisoning, not sure where he got it, best guess is Duke's BBQ in Walterboro, but none of us others got sick, so who knows. I just know that he does not wish the feeling on his worst enemy, and I sure as heck don't want whatever it.

Tight hamstring, he went and saw a therapist and it turns out that the wayhe sits shortens his hamstring - they put him on pain killer and muscle relaxer so hopefully he will be abck to normal. Sitting is important, and right now he is only 1/2 comfortable when he is standing or lying down.

Hopefully he will be happy, like in this picture, soon...

For Scott

Scott K. wanted to know, "Why PoofyTurkey?" This text is from my old site, poofyturkey.com - I will work on retrieving the photos and video clips that were associated with it...

The Name:
Poofy Turkey... Where did it come from? In order to figure that out we must travel back in time to Thanksgiving in the year 2000. Picture it, Wednesday night, Florence, SC - Justin, my parents, and I are sitting in front of the TV watch South Park's Thanksgiving episode of the year. It was actually episode 404 - Hellen Keller! The Musical. Original Air date - 11-22-2000.

So, I must provide some background information for this all to make since.... let us travel even further back in time... It is July 1996, in Columbia, SC on the USC campus in the lobby of Patterson Hall. Leslie and Justin first met.

He and I remained friends for a good while, but when he went off to college we lost touch.

We can fast forward now... It is Sunday, August 20, 2000 - Columbia, SC on the USC campus in the grilled cheese line at The Grand Market Place. Leslie and Justin meet again. This time they stay bound at the hip. Things go well, and Justin goes home with me for Thanksgiving - he had met my parents on many occasions before this. Dad and Justin had already found a common bond - the TV, specifically wrestling, South Park and The Simpson's.

So, we are back to the first time travel point. At that time Justin was constantly calling me "prissy." I didn't hate it but I didn't really care for it either. The episode's story goes something like this... The kids in South Park are in 4th grade and they are suppose to put on a play, The Miracle Worker, you know - the Helen Keller story. So, after some stuff goes down it turns into the Helen Keller Thanksgiving Extravaganza. Timmy, the lovely mentally challenged child who can only say his name - is playing Helen, and it is determined that he must have a pet turkey in the play. So, Kyle and Timmy are given money and are sent to find a turkey. (Please view this video clip [right click and download the file and play it in Real Media Player], or listen to this sound clip [this is a wav file it must be downloaded as well]. This part of the story also corresponds to this picture.)

Kyle and Timmy come back with a "physically challenged turkey," that Timmy has favorable named Gobbles (picture, sound clip). And as Kyle said, none of the other kids liked Gobbles too much. When Kyle asks what he should have done about Timmy and the turkey Cartman tells him this...(sound clip).

Cartman brought in a broadway coach, Geoffry Maynard, to help them with the play, and he is VERY unhappy with gobbles (sound clip). So, he proceeds to sing a song about getting them a new turkey (sound clip). The next day an animal trainer, LaManne, shows up with a beautiful turkey that performs fabulous feats. Her name is Alanecia (we called her "poofy" - picture - she is rather poofy).

Well, it turns out that Alanecia is a very prissy turkey, and she doesn't play well with other turkeys (video clip, sound clip), so a conspiracy to get rid of Gobbles occurs. Cartman tries to kill Gobbles, but it doesn't work so one of the old guys tells Timmy that people are going to take Gobbles away (video clip, sound clip).

Timmy frees Gobbles, but is sad, and then he finds out that it was a trick, and the mean old dude tells Timmy that it is just show business, (sound clip). So, Timmy goes to find Gobbles - and it turns out that why Gobbles was alone he was almost "humanely" killed (video clip).

To make a really long story a tad shorter - Alanecia gets shot and Gobbles lives happily ever after.

---- So - technically my nickname comes from a dead cartoon turkey named Alanecia. She was a prissy poofy turkey, and over time (like 5 minutes) the name prissy poofy turkey became too long, so it was dropped to poofy turkey. On many occasions it is just "poof," "poofy," "turkey," or just plain old "turk." Anyhow, that is basically how I got the name. Hope you enjoyed the info.

Been A Long Time Gone...

No, I ain't hoed a row since I don't know when...

Lord, I ain't had a prayer since I don't know when...

Anyway. I have been in the never-never-land of posting on my blog, but oh well. Everything goes in cycles.

Quite excited though, this is the first post from my hip cool new computer (Compaq R4000), and I am pleased to say that I now operate one, and ONLY one computer for work! :) At one point this week I looked like a major nerd - I had the 15" iMac on my desk, the new computer, the old Sony Vaio, and a monitor... I was literally surrounded in computers. Now it is just the new R4000, and a really freakin old 17" Dell monitor.

So, I actually re-visted the blogging world last night when I created the Shearer Netflix Review. Alough, I know it is going to be changing up in a big way cause Justin is going to be tinkering with it. Somehow is is going to be using RSS to pull content off of Netflix or something. That is all too technical for me. So, for now feel free to check out the movie reviews. I will be adding a nav item to the site for them shortly...

All in all things are good. Life is happy, and I am halfway through the magic hour! :) SWEET!
