Nooo... Lennie

Jerry Orbach died. This saddends me. Not only was he Lennie on Law & Order, but he also played Baby's Daddy in Dirty Dancing, and had roles in countless other shows, movies, and musicals.

To all that knew him --- my thoughts are with you.

Just Like When...

Mom has often told me the story of when she picked me up after school one day and I said, "Mommy, I learned the F word." She hesitantly asked me what it was. I said, "Fat." LOL --- I kind of wonder if it was like today's comic.

Christmas was excellent. THANK YOU GRANDMA!!! Thank you to everyone else that was kind enough to buy rotten-ole-me a gift. IT was nice to have some time off, but I could have used to get more sleep. That is what this weekend will be for, and then it is time to hit the Y again. I am ready to get rid of these holiday pounds.

Farewell.

1.14

Ok -

I feel just like Justin last year. For him it was one less completion. For me, it is one more. That's all. One more completion. I won the regular season in fantasy football. There were something like 6 of us with the same record, but I had accumulated the most points so I was the #1 seed for the playoffs. I ended the regular season against Brandon, and he ended up the last seed in the playoffs so we were matched up against each other for the past few days of NFL. He was beating me something like 214 to 186 yesterday morning and we each had one player to go. For me - Tom Brady, NE's QB. For him - Kevin Faulk, one of NE's RBs. I knew Brady would have to put up a solid 50 points for me to be able to have a chance. Well, 50 wouldn't have done it - he had 49.32 and I was 1.14 short of a win. Yes - one more completion and I would be OK. I could analyze this a million ways. It sure didn't help me that IND played BAL this week cause that resulted in Peyton having a less than fantastic game. Oh well --- I play Ben this week. We will see how things go from there.

Must go though. Hoke just got in and we have to prepare for a meeting.

My Dog, The Hunter

Justin and I were in Florence over the weekend. Sunday morning Mom and Grandma went to play handbells at church, Dad got up to do his usual stuff, and Justin and I slept in. I got up around 9:45 and Justin stayed in the bed. I went downstairs and saw Chloe outside laying near what appeared to be a turtle shell. I grabbed a coat and walked over to her. Sure enough, turtle shell. I had to find Dad to see what the deal was.

It turns out that Gohan drug up the turtle that morning, broke open the shell and ate the poor thing. When the other dogs came near he would growl so they would go away. By the time we left Sunday afternoon the dogs had diminished the shell to about half.

I must say, I am somewhat glad Gohan is exerting his "doggly instincts," - you know, killing and all - but a turtle? This is where Justin and I are in conflict. I think it is kind of a cop-out. It isn't like a turtle can run or anything. There really is not much skill involved with trying to catch one, what it is going to do, fight back? Mom says Gohan just has a taste for the finer things in life. Not so sure about that either. I guess it might have taken a little skill to get in the shell, but anyway.

Chloe and Gwen got into it over the weekend. Saturday morning to be precise. We had to carry Gwen to the vet. They sedated her and had to shave off just about all of the hair on her head. It was not pretty. You can easily see the ttwo puncture wounds on the top of her head where Chloe clamped down and the two under her chin where the bottom teeth hit. She had some bites that went straight through her ear too. Poor thing - it is always something. I reckon I will take a picture of her over Christmas. At least when she heals I can show it to Justin and say, "see, isn't she cuter now?"

Gotta go though... Have a good one!

Halloween 2004

Yeah, it might have taken like 75,000 minutes to get these posted, but never the less Halloween 2004 pictures are now available. :)

I know the site has not been updated much lately, but I just have not thought of anything interesting to say. Things have just been kind of so-so recently. We did land the Law School contract though, so that is pretty cool. :) We plan to kick off things at the start of next semester. Jan 10th :)

Justin and I are heading to Florence this weekend. Dad won tickets to the hockey game tonight so we are going to go. Baking is on the schedule though. WE have to bake 12 pound cakes. Fun Fun. I have to bake a bunch of cookies too.

See ya later!

A Threat

Oh no --- we have all made a terrible decision.

He is a threat!

Afraid I will be Like THis

For Better or For Worse is the only comic I read every day. Right now the story is about the youngest daughter having to write an essay. She originally just printed stuff off the internet, the mom found out, and now the mom is making her do it correctly. Problem is --- the mom is really doing it for her. For some reason I think this is the kind of mom I will be, but I guess there could be worse things in life!

Hope you are ready for a great Holliday season!

Most Perplexing

Justin has the free trial of XM Satellite radio in the truck. It has a station, SpecialX, that plays all Christmas music. We have heard the most perplexing thing... Jingle Babies. I am not sure what I think about it, but from this Amazon link you can listen to samples. I highly recommend "Away In A Manger" -- the end is my fav.

Hot Chocolate Horrors

Yeah... so right now I am about to get ready for bed. I am sitting in the living room, sipping on some hot chocolate, and enjoying the fact that Justin has not killed me. For Christmas we are making some people gift baskets that will include a variety of things. One of those things happens to be a mason jar full of home made hot chocolate mix. We figured we would get the mix making out of the way this evening. I had enough ingredients to make one batch. I wanted to see how many jars it would fill - that way I would know how much more stuff to buy. One batch filled about 4.3 jars. We set out to visit Wal Mart.

Of course we stayed much longer than we expected because we got some other shopping out of the way. We were both eager to get the nix made so we could head to bed. I jumped the gun and started pouring and measuring. It was quite odd though -- when we started filling the jars we had enough mix to fill 8 jars + some. We knew something had to be wrong. Turned out smart me - and I take ALL the credit - ended up added 150% more evaporated milk than we needed. Go Leslie!! It was the realization that it was 150% extra after about 20 minutes of what I like to call "heated discussion." We made some adjustments and made a test cup - which I am finishing up now.

The good thing is that we filled all the jars we needed, learned some vauable lessons, and have plenty of mix to last us through the winter. Now - I am going to take one last gulp of this lovely chocololate goodness and call it quits for today. The Pack game was a disaster, but we have to put that behind us and just look forward to next week (the Lions at home).

So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, good night....
