All lemmings accounted for!

In preparation for the flea market this coming weekend I stumbled upon my old Sega Game Gear. One of my favorite games was Lemmings, and now...All lemmings accounted for! I found this online version today. It is great because there is no software to download, but it is a little clunkly and will hog system resources I discovered. Bad for multi-tasking, but great while you are on hold with Dell.

My Day

Well, all the festivities for my day are officially over. The dinner at my parents was good. It was nice to see them all for a few days. Lori and Jeremy came up today. I was impressed with how well Justin and I did putting together our first shot at Thanksgivign Dinner. We fixed cornish hens, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato casserole, jello and cream cheese salad, sourdough and sausage stuffing, biscuits, and gravy. It was mucho tasty and everything was pretty much done at the same time. Which was nice. I must say it was done about 30 minutes later than I expected, but it all turned out quite well.

Justin and I are trying to get a few things done around the house this evening so I cannot chat long. He has been ULTRA productive out int he garage. That is really turning into his domain.

But, I shall go. Gobble Gobble!!!

Fear for My Relatives

OK - I get a lot of questions about this so I will clear it up. People always as, well - why do you like Thanksgiving. I consider myself a relative of the Eastern Wild Turkey as opposed to the all familiar "Table TUrkey" that we all eat and enjoy. Please take a look a the National Wild Turkey Federation for more details about the Eastern Wild Turkey. I must say I am quite concerned about the un-needed abuse of the more familiar "Table Turkey" however. Please take a look at tYahoo! News - Help Lines Hear Thanksgiving Horror Tales. The dry cleaning bag and the stomping are the most disturbing. After seeing this article - I also found....

- A Story about Mr. Smythe's Turkeys -- very cute.
- The Horrors of Thanksgiving - by Amber #9 -- also quite cute.
- A Turkey's Perspective
- THe Thanksgiving Turkey Pardon

Blah Blah

Blah Blah this, blah blah that, and this, and blah blah I guess that is it really.

After the election, I figured it would be Kerry this, Bush that for months and months, but things in Iraq have been in the spotlight and everything that has shaken up with the Bush Administration's International Security board. But, being a Gamecock fan, and living in South Carolina, and having Clemson fans around - I know I am gonna hear about the Clemson/SC brawl and the Clemson win every day until we beat Clemson. Even then we will still hear about it. Luckily all the Holtz/Spurrier drama is about over with because Lou did the press conference today. They will announce the Spurrier stuff tomorow I guess. But, between the NBA stuff that happened in Detroit and the Gamecock brawl we will hear about sportsmanship and fighting for a good while. Looks like USC administration might not allow us to go to a bowl game (even though we are eligible). Lou did mention something about "if USC goes to a bowl game the best thing is for the new coach to coach it." That really flipped me out. I will be sure to put up a link to any "breaking news."

Just needed to rant about this though. I must get to work.....

Nail Biter

Got to bed right at midnight last night. Green Bay played Houston on ESPN's Sunday night football. I felt pretty confident that the Pack would win, but when the game weent scoreless in the first quarter and then Houston got up 13-3 I was a little nervous. Both teams stalled out again and no one was putting points on the board. GB was pentalizing themselves to death too. They ended up with at least 10 pentalties for over 110 yards I think. But, Houston was giving up penalties at the right time too. With about 8 minutes left in the game we started marching down and got a TD. Did I mention our to best RBs were out?? So, with 3 or 4 left it was tied. Houston didn't convert, we didn't convert, Houston missed again, and then with 2 seconds left Ryan Longwell hit a 49 yarder to win the game. I must say he BARELY hit it too. The ball grazed the inside of the upright. Ryan had missed a FG at the beginning which prevented us from going up 3-0.

This was the first time Houston & Green Bay had played each other. It was somewhat of a "monumental" game for the #1 pick in the 2002 NFL draft, Houston quarterback David Carr, which has idoliized and immulated Favre. One lady in the crowd also summed it up for everyone. "Favre + Carr = 2 sexiest in NFL" Although 2 different kinds of sexy you really can't deny what she said. If you google "sexiest men in football" this is the first link. There is also this as well. So, David seems to edge out Brett on the official sexy-meter, but who cares....

Need to get ready for work. Have a good one!

237 Days & Counting

Justin and I went to see the incredibles tonight and I saw a poster for this movie. I am SO stoked. Charlie & The Chocolate Factory has to be one of my all time favs. A trailer is not yet available, but I know it will be soon. The Incredibles was pretty good. It is set for a sequel, and I will be sure to see it. I was VERY impressed with the animation, and the story was pretty good. Only thing was that I thought it could have stood to be a little shorter.

So, the Spurrier/Holtz thing was on the front of Yahoo! today. Thought that was pretty neat. Lou announced to the players that he is not returning next year, but has not made an official statement to the press about that. It is expected Monday. The big bout against Clemson is tomorrow. I heard something about some Rock 93.5 guys shooting frozen turkeys onto the field. Not sure if I think that is cool, or whether I am offended by it. Still on the fence. Either way, I hope we beat them. It would be nice for Lou to go out on a loss to the Tigers, keep them from a bowl game, and win a bowl game ourselves.

I am gonna go though. Tomorrow Justin and I are going out to Scott Kaplan's to watch the game with his wife, Reena & her husband. It was the invitation to go do this that made us realize Justin & I are considered grown-ups now. This is another thing I am still on the fence about. Not sure if I want to be a "grown-up." And now that I ponder the phrase "grown-up" it sounds very foreign. You know, foreign in the same way just about any word over and over again. (or if you write or type it numerous times in repitition repititon repitition repitition repitition repitition repitition repitition --- kinda looks weird after awhile too. Like I said, gotta go though. By the way, my day is almost here!! :)

For Real??

Spurrier headed to South Carolina, announcement next week. I just do know if I can believe it. That would be SO cool, but really? It would suck if all this was just rumor still. I wonder if Spurrier will be able to work his college magic again. One thing is certain, we will be able to recruit a kick ass quarterback. Thats for sure.

A Bright Spot

I am still coughing my head off, but things are busy at work so going to a doctor is out of the question. But, I did get an e-mail from Mom talking about various things. The last paragraph ready as follows:

"You may need to come and get your horse…she has gotten out twice this past week at night. Dad can’t find a hole in the fence but she is getting out on the field side of the pasture! Ace is very concerned about it but apparently not smart enough to figure out how to get out himself! I knew she was out this morning when I heard in whinnie in the darkness. Then I heard her coming through the pine trees!"

:) Thats Ruffian for you.

A Good Day

Well, I figured yesterday would have completely wiped me out. However, when it was all said and done the day was a little rough but I stayed up a little later than normal and then was ready to wake up earlier than normal. Go figure. Work was very productive and I think I am on track to have another good day today. I am eager to get back in the Y after having laid around 4 of the last 5 days, but I think it will be better to wait one more day before I go. The last thing I want to do is over exert myself and reverse my recovery.

Thanks to everyone that has checked in on me the past few days. Can you believe it? Thanksgiving is almost here. I am excited! :)

Need to run though. Time to wake Justin up and work on drying my hair.

Trying to be productive

I am home sick. Had a really bad sore throat and cough like stuff yesterday. Today is better. I can talk as long as I keep drinking something. I know Gohan and Vegita must think I am crazy because I am talking randomly, but oh well.

I am trying to be productive though. I keep checking e-mail and I did some work on the site. Some new pictures are posted. So check em.

I also have these new ones too. They are from when Justin & I first went to Olde Towne Hall and then when Jeremy, Sarah Jane, Justin & I were there for Pig on the Ridge.

See ya...

'Tis The Season

To start shopping that is. Not counting today, there are 44 shopping days left until Christmas. It will be here before we know it. So, I figured the best way to start this off is to prevent 2 major questions. "Leslie, what do you want for Christmas?" "Leslie, what should I get Justin for Christmas?" In order to combat this - please review these options. (file download in PDF format)

For those of you I am buying for - please let me know what you would like. And - let us know forget the reason for the season. This is a time to start reflecting on what it is we have in our lives. We are all very fortunate people, no matter who our President is, what the inflation rate might be, or how many foreigners might be pissed at America. We are lucky to live in a nation where we are provided with as many options and rights as we are. This whole thing can go even deeper into faith. We are all blessed to have been provided with the right to choose our own faith, but it is undeniable that the coming season is grounded in the birth of Christ. For it is through his life, death, and resurrection that we may all enjoy eternal life.

May everyone enjoy a blessed Holliday season. Whatever you do - don't get caught up in all the hub-ub, but please take a minute to enjoy the changing of the leaves (unless they have already changed), watch kids meet Santa for the first time at the mall, and smile. :)

Hiwiffyiwytkiwyd -

Hiwiffyiwytkiwyd - stands for "Hate is what I feel for you I want to you know I want you dead." Guess I deserve it. Be sure to read my comment.

Going home so he can play Halo 2 - to redeem myself I might let him shoot me in the game. But not with actual objects. I love him.

He Has Grown Up Well

You know, for the first time I can really say - Gohan has grown up to be a really good dog. I have remained steadfast about the fact that I thought he would be one of those dogs that is "forever puppy," but I think I was wrong. More and more recently he is really proving himself to be a GOOD DOG! (I am trying to convey my empatic and compasionate tone there.) It really started the weekend that Justin and I house-sat for Mom & Dad while they went to the Mountains. Yesterday however, after I returned to Columbia (from voting in Florence). Gohan went to the office with me. (It was easier to just take him there instead of going all the way to the house to drop in off on my way back into Columbia.) He was such a gentleman at the office. He just laid down, didn't try to wander off. We had no need to put up any barriers or anything. It was really nice. Then, today I had to pull out the hose into the front yard. I just left the gate open and he did not run off. It was great. We even took him for a little spin in the back of the truck. He is still not too sure about that truck bed stuff. At least the entering and exit part that is. I can tell he digs riding around back there though. It is like being in a giant window I guess.

So, I just wanted to let everyone know how proud I am of my dog. I think he has grown up well.

Later!

Congrats to an Old Friend

Just heard from my old across the hall roommate at Preston - she is getting married! I am not sure whenAshley & her man got engaged, but they are getting hitched in Hawaii on Dec. 26th. I would love to go, but the cash just isn't telling me it is possible. But, best wishes to her!
