Since Justin and I were in Florence for the weekend we scooted down to Myrtle Beach to do some shopping at the outlets. The first and last place we ended up going was the Bose Factory Outlet. We went ahead and got the Bose Lifestyle system 28. Sounds pretty good.



After that we were going to go to Waccamaw Pottery but all that stuff is all closed down so we went ahead and picked Jeremy up at the hotel they were staying in. Once we got Sarah Jane we headed to get some lunch - a great place off Ocean Blvd called Soho. It was really tasty, and they had WONDERFUL hummus. :) Our journey taking Jer & SJ to the airport was eventful. We ended up driving all around behind the airport where they do maintenance and keep all the rental cars. We got to take a look at Jeremy's plane for the first time. That was cool. It was a little different than I was expecting.

Once they got all loaded up Justin and I went back down to the shore to walk around. Justin found a shark's tooth. THe waves were a lot rougher than I was expecting. I guess hurricane Jeanne had something to do with that. After we got back to Florence we went in a few furniture shops, didn't find much of anything, and stopped at the grocery store to get stuff for dinner.

After we got back Justin did a mock set-up of the Bose system. Again, it sounds pretty good. I think we will be happy with it (for the $$ we better!) WE had country fried steak and gravy for dinner --- mmmm, tasty! :)

All in all, the "house sitting" (or whatever) has gone well. I know that I don't do things right in the mornings though because Chloe and Gwen kept looking at me like I was crazy. (Dad has a set routine he does in the mornings). But, we are going to work on heading home, so I better get this finished up. See ya!

6mths Come & Gone

I can't believe we have been married 6mths. Doesn't really feel like it. Some days feels longer, some shorter. But nevertheless - it is almost the end of september and we will have been married 1 year before we know it. This year has flown by. I kind of miss the days where the years took for ever and the summers were endless.

Overall, yesterday was a good day. I forgot a few things about the weekend though. On Saturday we went to the Greek Festival for lunch. :) It was SO good. I also about had a heart attack when we were driving through downtown because they are putting a Quiznos (mmmmm, toasty) not 100 yards from the front door of my office building. SWEET!!!! You have no idea how much I LOVE Quiznos.

But, it is waffle time. Justin is making them. I better go.

All the wrong decisions...

Well, for me - another week of fantasy football has come and gone. I did bad too. I am going to go from 1st to 4th in Salary Cap Football, I lost to Scott in regualr Fantasy Football, and I think I am only going to end up picking 60% of the games in NFL picker. :( To top it the Packers lost to the bears. Who would have guessed. Hmmm, what other bad decisions did I make. Justin and I spent to much money this weekend, we assumed that we wouold be able to get out furniture orded from Whit-Ash. Wrong. Oh well, though. Hopefully we will get it taken care of today.

On the upside, the Cocks won. Yes, there were playing the equivalent of a high school tieam, but still it was a "W." We got our recliner ordered, Justin has a picture up. We also picked up a neat leather chest thing and another small storage box. We also got some much needed work done. All in all it was a good weekend and I am looking forward to the work week so I can relax some. It will be nice to sit all day today. We went, and went, and went, all weekend.

Gotta get ready to go to work though. Peace.

The week ending 9.17.04

Unfortunately things were kind of down hill after the fabulousness of Monday night. In short, Tuesday went pretty well. I got a good bit done at work, and the Y kicked my butt (which is good). Wednesday was not as good. we had a meeting with Chad, our financial planner. I was impressed. He gave us a lot of options so we could get an idea of the direction we were comfortable going. Shortly after that meeting we were back at the office preparing to head to the Y. That was when Jeremy called to let us know Lori was in the hospital. She had gone to have an absesed (sp) tooth looked at (most likely a run of antibiotics and then removal). The dentist tried to remove it then, and it threw her into a type of panic attack. So, she went to the hospital and some tests came back "unsatisfactory" and she has had to stay a few days. Justin and I went down to see her Wednesday evening and we are planning to go back if she stays in the hospital. We shall wait and see. Thursday was a tired day because I was still catching up from Monday night and the late evening we had on Wednesday. Again, I got a good bit of work done, which was nice. The drama of yesterday involved Justin getting stripped of his Fantasy Football win. For some reason Yahoo! saw it fit to dock him 7 points, and that resulted in me having more points, and thusly - a week 1 win. Personally I think it is kinda shitty because he won fair ans square at the beginning, and Yahoo did not give any reason for the points modification. Today the alarm went off at 7am as usual, but I fell back asleep (as usual). Some thunder woke me up about 7:20 and I realized hell was raging outside. Much wind and rain. So, I went to check on Gohan. He did not pull one of his - bolt in the door - moves, but I did let him in. It took a bit to get him dried off and the floor cleaned up. He looks much happier now. The power kept flickering, and I think things have finally cleared up outside. (The last of Ivan is passing through our area.) So, I am going to go hop in the shower really quick cause my morning process needs to get going.

Hell Yes! The Packers showed up last night. They waxed the Panthers 24-14, and the only reason it was 14 was because we were playing prevent. So, for a re-cap of the evening...

We headed out around 3:00, picked up Ben, went by the house, stopped t Wal-Mart, and hit the road. We made it to Charlotte at just about 6:00 and scored a spot only 2 blocks from the stadium. It cost $25 though, but was worth it. We actually ended up buying two spots so that Marty would have a spot to park when he got there. After arriving we took a walk around the stadium and then headed back to the car to start cooking. Cheddarwerst and Corn were on the menu. Immediately after arriving the first thing that struck me was the amount of green and gold I was seeing (Go Pack!). We got the food going and were just finishing up the cheddarwerst when Marty showed up (we knew he would be running late). He grilled some burgers to eat and we tossed around the football a bit before his bro (Michael) showed up.

Round about 8:00 we started heading to the stadium and the first thing we did was hit the bathrooms. In line I heard someone talking about Edwin McCain and so I started eavesdropping. Turns out he was scheduled to sing the National Anthem. Sweet!! Again, I am utterly impressed by the number of pack fans that were around, and being that I had a giant block of cheese on my head - I wa in good graces with them all.

So, talking about Pack fans - we saw all kinds. It was pretty wild. We were even blessed with the presence of what seemed to be the Pope of the Green Bay Packers. It was decked out in the satin green cape, with this giant head piece that had a portrait of Vince Lombardi on it. Definately wild. We event saw the 'mascot' - the G-man. (can't explain it)

Our seats were something like 4 rows from the top but the view was great and there were tons of GB fans all around. We had WONDERFUL time! Every time GB scored my cheese was beaten by the people behind me - its cool - i was down with it.

Brett Farve performed well, and in some ways a little too well because Justin edged me out in this week of Fantasy Football, but it is ok. If it took me losing for the Pack to have a game like that, then I will lose every week! :) [and i actually could have won if i would have had a different set of players in - bummer]

The game ended just after midnight and I didn't make it to bed until about 3am, but it was worth it all. Needless to say I am draging today and my voice is a little horse, but I would gladly do it all over again.

I must get back to work though. This little hiatus (sp) has been just enough to refresh my brain.

OK - I sent this to Mom earlier, but I figured I would open it to others too. So - what does it mean? "Hinky Pinky" is a game my old roomie, Dulcie, taught me and Justin while we were driving to Kansas City the other summer. You start by saying "HINK PINK" (or a variation there of based on the number of syllables in your answer), then you give a clue.

Monday Night Football on ABC - Packers vs. Panthers?

Okay - I don't think Prince intended for people to take that much leaway with his songs. Nevertheless, I gave it a try and I am totaly stoked about the game tonight. We are going to be heading out in about 30 minutes to get Ben, pick up the last of the stuff we need for tail gaiting, and hit the road. Marty is meeting us there to tail gate and Michael (Marty's brother) will be joining us right before the game.

Just is torn because Brett is his Fantasy QB, but he wants the Panthers to win. He has a D. Foster jersey and a B. Favre jersey with him today. The plan is that he will wear the jersey of whoever is on offense at the moment. I don't think that the Panthers fans are going to take to kindly to that. You are either with them, or against them. Know what I mean?

Well, I am all ready to go - got the cheese head and my green #4 jersey on. I can't wait. But, I need to go for now. I need to make one quick, completely un-related post here on the Web site before we hit the road.

Nice and Clean

Hey all. Lori has come up today to watch the Cocks take on the Dawgs. She got here a little earlier than we were expected and I was not done cleaning up the house, so I took advantage of the situation and did more than I was planning to. I keep telling myself that I am going to go pull the fridge and oven out from the wall and clean behind there, but I think that will have to wait until tomorrow. I am kinda pooped now. Justin and Lori have run to the store to pick up a few things.

I am fixing a London Broil for dinner - should be pretty tasty. I have a rub sitting on it now so it can absorb some of the flavor before I throw it on the grill. Kick off is at 5:30, and I want to try to eat during half time, so my plan it to put it on at the end of the first quarter. This will be my first London Broil attempt. If it goes well I am going ot hit up Bi-Lo this week because they have them buy-one-get-one-free.

Oh - sounds like they are back. I guess I will go.

Peyton didn't perform as I was expecting, but Brady pulled it out. I am not complaining.

Explanation

Yeah, so the last post was me showing this guy at the Moore School how Blogger works. I was over there for a meeting today, and I really think we are about done. It will be really nice to come home and not worry about having that project looming. Now, looming has negative connotation, but I don't want you to think I have negative thoughts about the Moore School, or the project. It has been a great learning experience, and I really enjoy all the people I get to work with over there.

One of the things I like about small business is the fact that you are pretty much into everything that makes the business run. Especially with the type of position I have at GraySail. Unfortunately it means I have to bring work home sometimes. Actually, it has meant that I bring work home A LOT recently, but you gotta do what you gotta do. When there is a small team you can only delegate so much - I like it that way though. As much as I like to sit on my butt and do nothing, I really feel worthless if I don't have a ton of shit to work on.

I know Justin is pissed that I work so much. I am really trying to cut back on my at-home work. Tonight is the first time this week I have dont anything, and I didn't even bring my computer home over the weekend (although Justin and I did go to the office for about an hour so I could take care of a few things). Tonight we watched that movie he wanted to see - "Sean of the Living Dead" - or something. Pretty dang funny. I wasn't sure where it was going for the longest time, but in the end it was a good watch, and I might even watch it again - who knows. Justin is playing video games now. ESPN 2k5 football. We picked it up for $17 or something. As long as it makes him happy.

It's about 11 - I reckon I better go to bed soon, and I have only done "work" for a little bit while at home today. Probably need to tie up some loose ends before I turn in.

Oh Bother.

Well, I figured that the title of my last post would at least draw a comment or two. Guess not. The weekend tuned out pretty well. I got to watch football all day Saturday, and on Sunday Justin and I did some paroosing around town trying to find stuff to move along our re-decorating process. Amelia took us out to lunch Sunday - we went to S&S Cafeteria. Now, let me say - until about 2 weeks ago (maybe 3 now) I have been pretty darn down on these cafeteria places, but really - they are not too bad and you get a ton of food for not much money. The food is down right tasty too.

Oh yeah - first thing Sunday - we got up and went fishing on the banks of the Congaree near the zoo. Didn't have any luck though. :(

Yesterday was Labor Day, but not a GraySail holliday. I got a good bit done, so that was really nice. VERY quite in the office though. I almost fell asleep a few times.

Woke up in the middle of the night to torrential rain and wind. Let Gohan in cause he was not too wet. It was a little before 2. Around 5:30 he got antsy so I put him back out, but all hell broke loose around 7:30 - I needed to get up anyway. I went to check on Gohan, the rain was blowing right in his dog house, so I was going to step out in the weather to rotate it away from the wind. No such luck. By the time I had the door open enough to get my leg out he had busted his way in. He was VERY wet this time. Dirty too. It was a mess. I felt bad putting him back out before we left for work, but I had to do it. Weather hasn't been bad thus far, but it could easily get worse.

Gotta go for now. Time to eat lunch and get back to work.

Virginity Gone

It was great. There were nine of us. 5 girls and 4 guys, although one of the gals was a trader and started playing for the other team. I was a little nervous because it was my first time. The room was dark, but there were some black-lights on. The girls started on one side, and the guys on the other - but by the time it was over with, we were all up in each other's stuff. In the end, the guys prevailed. All and all I am glad I did it, and it only cost $5.00 - laser tag. I am a new fan. We played at Putt-Putt fun center (I have heard Frankie's is better).

Todd is in town - I have mentioned that already. So, Todd, Danielle, Katie M., Jeremy, Sarah Jane, Brandon, Katie W., Justin, and I went to Little Pigs for dinner. (I ate WAY too much) It was pretty tasty though. I would go back. I still think Palmetto Pig is better though. After dinner we headed to the Putt-Putt Fun Center where we played laser tag, rode go-carts (I skipped that part), and played putt-putt. We did putt-putt as Captain's Choice - guys vs. girls. The guys got a one stroke lead, then a two stroke lead. We tied it up, got behind, and then tied it up again. The last hole was the deciding factor. Brandon got a lucky-ass hole in one, and the guys won by one stroke.

All in all it was a good time. Brandon and Danielle won free golf for 10, so we will be able to go back again soon - free of charge. :)

Watching the Cocks play Vandy on Jefferson Pilot. We are winning - yeah! Disappointed that the Pack lost last night. (27-7 against the Titans)

Do I see a death-march?

I have heard of it - programmers fear it - Hoke tells of it - but I have not experienced it. But will I?

Unfortunately, I think a death-march is coming - and I think I will be a part of it. What is a death-march you ask? In the tech world, a death-march is equivalent to an all-nighter before finals. In extreeme cases, the boss (whether the project manager or the owner of the company) will lock the front door and not let people out until the project is finished.

I really should not take this so seriously. Although I think it will build my character, I really have no desire to work all through the night to get a project done. I much rather budget time more efficiently in order to get things done ON TIME without any stress - kind of like I did with the wedding stuff.

So, this past Friday I had a sort of floating deadline to complete some stuff for the Moore School. (We are going though a "beautifying" all of the pages they have created.) There is no way we will be done tomorrow, which is a week late. But we HAVE to be done by next Wednesday - no questions asked. And that just might take a death-march.

Other than that questionable part of my upcoming week - things are going pretty well. Lost 10lbs total as of today. I am happy about that. I don't much feel like I have lost 10lbs though. Todd is in town this weekend. He came in today. We found out Justin's cousin Jowe is living up here now. He is coming by this evening - Justin has to fix his computer.

Having Justin's famous pork chops for dinner. I love those things. Hopefully he will do as well as always.

Reckon I better scoot. Gotta do some picking up before people get here.
