Weekend Summary

So - Sunday really turned out to be a flop. We got everyone together to head to the lake and actually stopped to get fishing licenses. For the first time - everything was legal on the boat! So that is good.

The fishing stunk - i think justin got one nibble but that was it. After we were done fishing - Katie went tubing, then as we were workign on switching tube riders we all decided to go for a swim. We were in about 50 feet off water, so we just dropped the anchor part of the way down so that the boat would not drift as bad. Unfortunately - when Justin jumped off the boat - he lost his glasses. Really bad part is - Justin cannot see with out his glasses - AT ALL!

We quickly dealt with the glasses issue and did not sweat it too much - we all just enjoyed the water and had fun. After a bit we all got back in the boat and Brandon prepared to tube. I had to drive obviously - and when we started going we noticed that full throddle was not going fast at all. Turned out we left the anchor down. That really pissed Justin off, but we quickly recovered from that one too. :) Everyone got to tube. Well, Justin elected not to - but anyway. Todd was the coolest to pull around. He is so light that he hopped and bumped everywhere.

Brandon had to back the Trailblazer down the ramp. We got the boat up on the trailor and then had some miscommunication. Justin told katie and I to get the bimini top down, and befoer we were done - Brandon decided to head up the ramp, i must note that he used excessive gas at the beginning - so Katie and I lost our footing and in all of that I ended up breaking one of the clips on the bimini top - it shouldn't be too hard to fix though.

Then, we got home - Justin could not find anywhere that could get him temporary glasses because his perscription was expired. Luckily - I found a really old pair of his "eyes" and he got to watch the NASCAR race. :) He loves road courses. His people did really good too until the last lap - Rusty Wallace ran out of gas. If that wouldn't have happened - he would have had 3,4,7,9. VERY GOOD! So - then just after the race was over with - around 7:00 a storm came and the power went out. Bummer! Did I mention that it was out a good portion of Friday evening? Well - it was! So - the power was out for ages, then it came on for about 30 minutes, and went out again - till almost 10:30. Then it went out again at 2:00, but didn't last that long. The really odd thing about the second two times it went out - was that when i called to report it - everything was back working within about 2-5 minutes. It is like they just had to push a button to wake up the little mice that turn the electric pump for our neighbor hood.

Overall, SCE&G has been doing great with service, but the past few weeks - it seems like everytime we have a somewhat nasty Thunderstorm - the power goes out, and it is getting really frustrating. Anyway...

This morning Justin and I set out to get him some new eyes. Nowhere opened until 9:00, and even then - we headed to Pearle vision because it seemed to be the only place that could take him immediately. He got an exam, but couldn't find any framed he was 100% on - well - ones that wern't between $250 and $400. So - we took the prescription and headed to the mall - H Rubin wasn't much better, and then Sear's optical was a bust too. Finally we tried Lenscrafter and wala - he found some he liked and they were only $69.99 - and because they didn't honor our BCBS Vision One discount (30% on frames and 20% on lens) they gave a standard 25% discount - YES!!! Then, they took an additional $75 off if you got a second pair. Well - we ended up getting him some sunglasses to - same frames, and it was cheaper than the one pair he could have gotten anywhere we went. And becuase we got 2 pair - we got to do 6 months same as cash. Now - Justin doesn't quite understand same as cash stuff - but I will never turn it down. So - yeah! Justin's glasses will be done shortly. For now - he is wearing sun glasses and is hanging out at the office while I get some work done. (They dialated his eyes REALLY bad at during the examination - they say it wont be back to normal until tonight, and he had it done before 10am - go figure!)

Have a great one!

Weekend Productivity Report

Well - I am doing pretty well on accomplishing the stuff that I wanted to this weekend, and it is 8:07am on Sunday. Yesterday I got all of the website transferred over to the new template (finally) - I also added a few new albums: 1) Justin Growing Up 2) Ernst & Young E of Y 2004

The first album is composed of pictures Lori gave us to use in a collage frame at the wedding reception. They take us all the way from "Baby Justin" to "Justin the College Graduate."

The second album is composed of pics taken at the Ernst & Young 2004 Entrepreneur of the Year awards in Charlotte. Jeremy, Sarah Jane, Geniese, Dez, and I went! We had a blast!

So - this morning - we are heading to the lake. Todd is in town right now, and he wanted to hit the lake. He should be here soon. Katie and Brandon are going to be meeting us out there after a while - close to 11 I think. It should be a good time.

Gotta go for now!

A Very Edwin Experience

So - my "bummed" mood is over with! :) And I am very glad. Picked up the new Edwin McCain CD - Scream & Whisper after a little frustration (I had trouble finding it when it came out on Tuesday). At first I was pretty skeptical - but after listening to it a few times it is growing on me.

Yesterday, Edwin did a CD signing at Wal-Mart on Harbison. There were maybe a 100 people there, and I ran into Dave - a guy a know through Katie W! I also met another nice girl that goes to Francis Marion but I didn't get her name. Anyhow - He played 4 songs, "Say Anything," <sound clip> "Shooting Stars," <sound clip> "I'll Be," <sound clip> and "I Could Not Ask For More." <sound clip> It was grand. I took many pictures!!

**Right click the links and choose "Save Target As..." in order to download and listen!***

I had a super time, and it definately helped with me getting into a better mood. I hope to get a good bit done this weekend. You will notice that the Pictures link on the side bar takes you to a "matching" page now - all of the albums are not linked up yet, but that is one of those things I want to get done this weekend!

Hope you all have a great one!

Bummed...

Just had a friend ask me if I was ok. Didn't know how to answer it. I just kind of feel bummed. Yesterday seemed like it was a good day, but when it was all said and done - it really kind of sucked. Did have fresh grilled corn for dinner last night. :) Did get to see Dodgeball - quite funny! :) Got to use by hip-cool FoodSaver for the first time. Which was fun!

Nevertheless, I just want to crawl into bed and put the sheets over my head.

Note to Mom - I didn't get to see Extreme Dodgeball 'cause we went to Dodgeball. Did capture it on DVR though. Will watch it tonight.

A Hella Sweet Weekend

Friday
Katie W. picked me up at the office a little after 1:00 and we hit the road. I-20 though Florence to Hwy 76/502 down to Hwy 22 on into N. Myrtle Beach and the House of Blues! We got there just before 4:00 and people were already in line for the Keith Urban (KU) concert - door were set to open at 7:30! We slipped into the restuarant and had a bite to eat (planning for pass the line - because if you eat at the HOB the day of a show you can pass the general admission line). We shared all 4 things we ordered - Pan seared herb cornbread, a shrimp po-boy with sweet potato fries, a chicken ceasar pizza (yum!), and white chocolate bread pudding.

As we listed to people in the restaurant we figured that if we wanted to have a chance of getting a decent spot in the concert hall we should go ahead and get in line. Even the "pass the line" line was getting lengthly - so we stood n the hot sun for about 2 hours before being herded into the hall just like a bunch of cows.

The air conditioning was a wonderful thing!! Katie and I got one of the very last sweet spots in the hall. It was excellent! We were up on an elevated level of the floor and had a direct line of sight over everyone's head. I would say we were about 20 feet from the stage. There was maybe 1 guy to every 7 girls and Katie proposed a challenge, "Be the first one to locate an African-American that does not work here." Before the opening band went on I opened a tab at the bar - it was only about 10 feet from where we were standing - oh yeah -- easy access!

Little Big Town (LBT) was the opening band. Three acoustic guitars and 4 singers. Two males, two females. They were pretty good. Tight harmony. They played for maybe 30 minutes. By the end of their set- no one had won the challenge.

The break between LBT and KU was quite short - probably only 15 minutes. During that break I headed to get another drink - BAD IDEA. It took me 10 of those 15 minutes. People were very rude too.

Keith Urban took the stage and the decible level sky-rocketed! Screaming girls are VERY loud! But it is understandable - the sexy singing Aussie with Prince Charming hair was gracing us with his presence. They opened with "Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me" <sound clip> and proceded to play through dozens of songs including a tribute to Johnny Cash and a cover of Tom Petty's "Free Fallin." The main set closed with "Somebody Like You," <sound clip> and the encore was an accoustic - "You're Not Alone Tonight." <sound clip> He told stories - let us know a new album was in the works - and shook his hair like no other! It was an amazing concert! Katie and I drove to the 'rents house to stay the night... Neither of us won the challenge. ***TO GET THE SOUND CLIPS - RIGHT CLICK THE WORDS AND CHOOSE SAVE TARGET AS***

A hair slinging pic!

An overall damn good pic.

Saturday...
Katie and I both slept until a little after 10:30 and after watching some TV with mom, we joined Mom and Dad for lunch at Cain's BBQ. Not great - not bad. After lunch Katie headed back to Cola and Mom, Dad & I sacked out in the living room while the Gamecocks lost a baseball game on TV. We watched "Kill Bill" that evening.

Sunday...
Rise and Shine - 7:15am - Big Pee Dee River bound. Mom, Dad, and I went fishing and had a spectacular day I must say! We caught some of the smallest we have ever seen (the size of my thumb) and the largest we have seen in a good while (pushing 2.5 lbs). It wasn't only one big one either - each of us ended up with one. If we would have started keeing them at the beginning of the day we would have ended up with at least 12 keepers - easy! We got back to the house around 2:30 - Justin was there. A big ole' beef brisket was started befor ewe headed out that morning and after throwing together some sides - we chowed down. Quite tasty!! :)

After a quick nap while the Nextel Cup drivers sped around the Michigan International Speedway - Justin and I headed for N. Myrtle Beach. The House of Blues was my desination again. The Get Up Kids, Thrice, and Dashboard Confessional were on the Sunday night menu, and Justin and I were probably the oldest people there that were not chaperones. Nevertheless, it was a good show and I MUCH enjoyed Dashboard. Justin trained me well - I knew all but about 3 of the songs. It was a good time, and fortunately - my bar tab got a little higher because of our excellent placement near the back bar. Our view wasn't as good as what I had at KU, but by the end of the night I was sitting on a bar stool - and when 2,000 people are in a place that has 200 bar stools, that is a good thing. The closing song was "Hands Down." <sound clip> and it was quie spectacular!

The show was over a little after 11 and Justin & I decided to make the long trek back all the way to Columbia. It was not fun. I got in the bed shortly after 2am.

Today & Looking Forward...
Somehow we made it in the office just after 9 this morning and although I have not been very productive - at least I have been around and I did get a few things taken care of. Weather is going way south right now - much raing and ugliness outside - poor Gohan. I know he hates being in the rain. Justin and I very majorly need to go home and clean the house - it is a mess. Then I am going to turn in early.

Edwin McCain's new album - Scream & Whisper - comes out tomorrow. I am SO there!

Have a great one!

A Breather

Whoo.... finally going to get to take a little break - maybe. I just finished several hectick days of proposal development for a contract we are bidding on with the Air Force. It is for an interactive fitness website for youth ages 9 - 18. Should be pretty cool if we win it. If we do it is going to be a collaboration between GS, faculty members in USC's Exercise Science dept., and a freelance writer. We also have a few other proposals out - so I am hoping business will keep coming in.

Gonna get back to work on the Moore School content mgmt system today. I havent touched it in awhile - so it will be good to take a new perspective on it. Things are going well with that project - the programmers here at the office are getting ready to start coding - should be cool.

Getting ready to release a teaser site for a new internal project. www.secxplorer.com Not completely up yet though.

Going to see Keith Urban at the HOB this weekend in Myrtle Beach. That's Fri night. Katie W. is going with me. :) Justin decided to skip out. Justin and I will be seeing Dashboard Confessional and others at the HOB on Sunday night though. Very much looking forward to both. Also, Edwin McCain is putting out a new CD next week, "Scream & Whisper." REALLY looking forward to that. Just bought tickets to one of his shows at the Farm on July 10th. Mom and I are going to go. Lastly - working to finalize plans for a trip to Florida at the end of July. We are going down to a wedding. (Congrats Allen & Joyce!) While there we are going to hit Sea World and Disney. YEah!! :)

So - one quick shout out to Dad - Hope your eye gets to feeling better!

Much love for everyone!

American Idol Meets Joe Schmo

I just discovered The WB Superstar the other day. Very interesting show. It is like American Idol meets Joe Schmo. They only send the REALLY bad people on to the next round, and the people won't find out it is a prank until the final episode - which is next week. Should be interesting to see what happens!

Going Thru Life

Things have been pretty hum-drum lately. Friday I saw the new Harry Potter movie. It was quite good. After that I headed to Florence with Gohan, and Saturday morning I took him to get shaved - he looks super cute now! I got to spend some time with Mom and Dad, which was nice.

Sunday, Justin and I met Mom and Dad out at Lake Wateree and we spent the day fishing. I got fried - not fun. Mom was pretty lucky with the fish though. She definately caught the most.

Yesterday at work I worked on compiling data for a website we are working on. Today Hoke and I headed to the Moore School for a meeting and i have spent the afternoon doing random stuff.

Note to mom - be careful - numbness can be dangerous.

Later!

Old School Survey

Remember those e-mail surveys that used to be passed around all the time? Well, thanks to Mr. Allen Michael I got one the other day, so I decided to fill it out. When you are done reading - feel free to copy it, fill it out and post it as a comment or e-mail it over. So, here it is...

Name: Leslie Johnson Shearer

Alias (only 1 please, as we do not have means to scan through FBI screening):  Turk

What is your favorite noise? Right now - anything with Keith Urban's voice - but the "Doink Doink" of Law & order is pretty nifty.

Nobody would believe it if they heard I ... Really did use to be a size 7 before I had my knee injury.

People who knew me in high school thought I was...  a really big flirt

Your favorite magazine(s): PC Mag, Discovery

Last 5 books read  "Armageddon" from the Left Behind series (presently reading), "The Wedding" by Nicholas Sparks, Harry Potter - the 5th year, The book before "Armageddon" and Harry Potter - the 4th year

If you could be royalty, what would your title be and over what place would you reign? (Fantasy locations apply. Ex: Fantasia, Floren, etc.)  Absolutely, without a doubt ruling over a tropical island. I would be referred to as "Your Bitchiness" but not by choice

The worst thing that ever happened to you:  Ever? I really think that the wreck I was in the past October was probably the worst thing that has ever happened.

If you could be famous, for what would you be famous and what would be your ultimate perk?  I want to be a well respected - much looked up to - businesses leader, standards setter, and educator. Kind of like Prahalad in the field of Strategic management. The perk would be the ability to make like $3,000 for an hours work and pack a lecture hall so that people are sitting on the floors.

Name the following:

---Crushes you most often listed when playing MASH (for international applicants, please list whoever you loved when you were little): (Allen I loved your answers - Janet Stroman though, I didn't even know you knew her) - Matt Hudson, Josh Hamrick, Sid Tyler, and ???

---Dream car:  BMW 7 series would be cool - but I really like the Audi A4

---Ideal vacation :  Hawaii or Alaska!

---Most Favorite movie/Most Dreaded movie &Why:  I have a few fav movies, but lets go with "Zoolander" - it gets funnier and funnier every time you watch it, and in some weird and twisted way, Owen Wilson is hot. "Mad Max" - I just don't get it.

---Best thing to do when with friends is... Really long last minute road trips to NFL games.

---The song that best describes you right now: "Redneck Woman" by Gretchen Wilson.

When I write my book and you're in it, your name should become: Leslie "The Backyard Oscar winning actress and choreographer" Shearer

Do you like your job/life at school? If so, why?  If not, what would, could and/or should be better?  I love my job - I am a Marketing Director for what I am confident in saying is the BEST data programming and web design firm in the region. I work with incredibly talented individuals that continually challenge me to become better at what I do and increase my knowledge base. Not to mention it's just cool!
