Week One - Check
Week one is done at the new place of employment.
I feel pretty good about the situation. While the entire marketing department is reorganizing things are looking up. The stuff everyone is talking about really makes sense and is going to make a big difference I can tell. Things just always get harder before they get easier.
I accomplished the first real part of a task for a customer today though. One of the copywriters went through the an SBU's Web site and had some copy suggestions. I put them into a format that the customer can review and then be passed along to the operations group for execution.
I have a slew of meetings again next week and am looking forward to getting my feet into the water a little more. I went to the first Channel Strategist's staff meeting today and one of the outputs Tara wants to see is a list of all current projects. After reviewing we will decide what gets done by the end of the year. I hope tailoring that list will allow us to identify a few places where I can help.
Sort of torn between focusing soley on learning and wanting to do stuff. I think learning is the most important part. The organization is so large that there is TONS to learn. Too many people it feels like.
I am slowly getting my cube all organized. Starting to get my stuff in there...

Next week I have to battle the software installation polcies. There are a few things I need that I cant seem to get my hands on sone stuff I need. 2 pieces I am most looking forward to are MS Project and MS Visio. It is really weird going from such an open source mentatlity to such a Microsoft mentality.
But, that is enough for tonight. I need to get back to unpacking clothes. Still several boxes to go. About to run out of hangers. Eeek. Wal-mart here I come.
Farewell.
