The Weekend
Howdy...
The weekend was pretty dang good. Friday evening Justin and I got me some shoes (pic later), we had dinner at Pasta Fresca for dinner (less than impressive). We followed that up with a stroll around BlackLion and picked up two great Parisian prints for the bedroom. One was of the Eiffel Tower, and the other just said Paris on it with the Fleur de Lis. Ben spent the night in fear of the storm, and I have already made a post about that part...
Saturday evening Justin and I went to the Will Hoge show at New Brookland Tavern. It really sucked. There were 4 bands on the bill. The first one was ok, the second one was really bad, and the third one was not too bad. It was really late by the time Will and Friends got on stage, and the roof was leaking ALL over the place. It was really crummy, and the sound was bad. Not the band's fault though. Check some excerpts from Will's road journal on his website...
So, if you've got a weak stomach, or an aversion to a bit of foul language, turn back now!!!
The New Brookland is a genuine grade A American shit hole!! Far and away the most poorly put together shit hole of any poorly put together shit hole I've ever been in.
Columbia would be better off if you just firebomed that place and did something productive with it. Maybe a whorehouse? Or hey!!! How about a meth lab? Actually you'd have to firebomb it before you could make it a meth lab. Those meth chefs have higher standards for working conditions...
It is necessary to define "leak." You may be thinking, 'You whinning ass, it's just a little drip." 70% of the hotels we stay in don't have water pressure this strong.
We take the stage promptly about 12:45... We're told to be done and off stage at 1:30. So we're all soaked, the sound sucks, it's hotter than 10 hells and all the people crowded in there singing our songs are there for some other band.
A little before 1:30 the 'sound man' starts telling us through the monitors, "last song." ... we act like we don't hear a thing. Just keep playing...
To read his full post, hit http://www.willhoge.com, then go to "Tour" and "Road Journal." All the nav is up in the top right-hand corner, and is pretty monochromatic - you might have to look carefully. It is a very colorful post....
See ya!
