Amazing Concert + Pics

Concert
Saturday, Mom & I ventured to Charleston to see Edwin McCain play at the Music Farm. It was without a doubt, the BEST show I have seen him put on.

He opened with "3AM" - by far one of my most fav Edwin songs, and closed with "Solitude" (another fav.) The chemistry between the group was really strong. Dave, Larry, and Craig were there as usual, but I was a little worried because I knew they had a new bass player (Lee Hendricks). Scott Bannevich is Edwin's former bassist - and was all I knew of bassists with Edwin. Pete Riley (a guitar player and backup vocalist) has been added to the mix as well. The additional voice and guitar really added an extra dimension to the show. I just wish it would have come across on the group's most recent album "Scream & Whisper" buy now.

Maia Sharp opened the show. She is a singer/songwriter that has most recently been awarded a Grammy for writing the title track for the Dixie Chicks album "Home." Maia also sings on the first single from "Scream & Whisper" - "Say Anything."

So, I mentioned that Edwin closed with "Solitude." He first tried to close with an accoustic rendition of "Radio Star" (a quirky song that parodies the music industry), then brought the whole band out and played "Holy City", which he also unsuccessfuly closed with because even though the Music Farm staff put the radio back on, eveyone kept chanting "SOLITUDE, SOLITUDE" because he had not yet played it. Now - let me tell you that Edwin does an amazing job with Solitude live. He will start it accousting and then bring out the full band in the middle of it for a HUGE powerhosue finish. Well, for the show - he simply played Solitude the way it was meant to be - acoustic the entire way through. It was great.

You could definately tell he was ready to call it quits though because we was super sweaty and kept fumbling some words, but that is what you get for playing 3 hours straight with a ton of gumption. It was fantastic!

Pictures
I put up 3 new albums. Some of the pics are from the Edwin show (of course). So, check the pictures page to see them.
